I was sitting my somewhere, singing my assorted collection of love songs, mostly in the bathroom.
Never dreamt of holding a microphone or being a music minister, didn’t even know what it meant.
Elsewhere God had prepared someone whose family had been deeply involved in the music ministry for decades, spanning several generations.
Long story short —Jerby Djokoto Paa Mawuesi is responsible for most of what you see me do in music over the years. When I look back to our paths crossing on the Kwabotwe Hills some 23 years ago it’s evident that it was divinely orchestrated.
Jerby took me to Joyful Way, starting at KNUST, a group I never thought I was capable or qualified to join. I would later become the director of music and productions for the group for 8 years. A group that totally changed the trajectory of my life and provided about 95% of my closest associates till date.
Jerby took me to BSU-KNUST where we released the Awuradeei album in my very first year which opened me up to a whole new world of gospel music… and the rest is history. People still think I’m a Baptist, but I just followed him there.
Jerby took me to KNUST Mass Choir where I rose through the ranks and garnered so much experience.
It’s as if God took him to KNUST a year earlier to ease my arrival.
O, and then Jerby took me to Impact Project where I met my wife, who was then his deputy music director there🙈
These and many other blessings I’ve received from knowing Jerby, and he continues to be a strong pillar in what I do today, my biggest cheerleader who also reminds me of the “narrow way”.
You would normally see him behind the keyboard, but more importantly I’m amazed by the incredible things Jerby does backstage in selfless, exemplary service to God and people.
All these while being a well-sought after safety engineering expert in the Oil industry.
Anyway I said this was going to be short..
Happy 40TH birthday to a special brother.
Spectacular blessings for the next 40!
